The brutal gang fight that took place at a fast food restaurant in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York earlier this week garnered international attention after the video of the melee was posted on social media. Without missing a beat, 15-year-old victim Ariana Taylor gleefully posted pictures of herself and boasted about the fame that she feels that she has gained as a result of the fight.
While police arrested the main attacker in the fight, 16-year-old Aniah Ferguson, who has a history of assaults and arrests, and questions other suspects, the lack of remorse, morality, direction, discipline, dignity and self-respect portrayed by the girls in the video is as appalling as it is heartbreaking. Where is the sense of pride, self-esteem and values that young women often embrace in their teenaged years? Such perspective is sadly missing from the girls involved in the disgraceful display of immodesty.
While attention is focused on the herd mentality that is being blamed for patrons who watched the fight while failing to call police, the central concern about young women showing a callous disregard for their bodies and well-being is overlooked. It is a troubling reality when girls engage in savage conduct that is more commonly associated with primitive times. It is even more disturbing that their conduct is cheered as routine entertainment instead of the pox on society that is really is. What a disgrace!!!-OnPointPress.net.
