South Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s Public Health Emergency Prompts Friends of BQGreen to Hold Rally, Press Conference, July 26 Urging Funding for BQGreen

WHAT: Rally and press conference calling for Mayor de Blasio and Governor Cuomo to address the dangerously high rates of asthma and other illnesses in South Williamsburg caused by the BQE and the on/off ramp to the Williamsburg Bridge. Community members and electeds will call on the Mayor and Governor to help remediate the situation by funding the construction of BQGreen, a park to be built over the BQE in South Williamsburg where it runs below the street level.

Members of the community will put up crime tape around Rodney Park North and wear gas masks at the event to help call attention to the emergency.
